Organizers of Free and Equal Debates are Just as Exclusionary

In allowing only four minor-party candidates to share the stage, the organizers of tonight's Free & Equal debate are being as exclusionary as the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) was in limiting the three nationally-televised debates to President Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney. It's shameful, especially since two of tonight's participants — the Constitution Party's Virgil Goode and Rocky Anderson of the fledgling Justice Party — aren't on the ballot in enough states to theoretically win on November 6th. On the other hand, I represent a party with a much longer history than any of tonight's participants. Unlike former Congressman Goode and ex-Salt Lake City Mayor Anderson, I am on the ballot in the most populous state in the country and, in addition to vote-rich Florida and Colorado, will have write-in status in enough states to "mathematically" Occupy the White House on November 6th. … [Read more...]

My Speech at Oaksterdam

Roseanne's appearance was threefold: She pushed for total legalization of the marijuana plant as well as donations and voters for her newly adopted political party (a push to be a Green Party candidate didn't go so well). "Marijuana should be totally legal," she said. "We live in a free country, so it should be legal to smoke marijuana and drink." Barr is running on a ticket with antiwar activist Cindy Sheehan, who Bay Area voters may remember from her 2008 bid to unseat then-House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi. Her appearance in Oakland was initially scheduled to be a fundraiser at a private home, but when Oaksterdam officials found out she'd be in town, they invited her to the downtown campus of the marijuana school, one of the federal goverment's victims in the recent crackdown on state-legal weed. Contra Costa Times Sept 27 2012

In Oakland visit, presidential candidate Roseanne Barr says marijuana should be 'totally legal' By Kristin J. Bender and Josh Richman Bay Area News Group San Jose Mercury News Posted: ContraCostaTimes.com OAKLAND -- Peace and Freedom Party presidential nominee Roseanne Barr came to Oaksterdam on Thursday evening to distance herself from President Barack Obama and GOP nominee Mitt Romney and their stance against marijuana. The comedienne and former television star held her town-hall meeting, "The Political Future of Medical Marijuana," in front a standing-room-only crowd of about 200 at Oaksterdam University. Barr said legalizing marijuana is the "way to end the drug wars and stop the monopoly of the subsidized prison systems." Barr, along with vice presidential running mate and anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan, are running a symbolic campaign in that the pair are not on the ballot in enough states to win. The appearance on Thursday was not only a push for money but a push for voters. Changes to election law make it so the party must nearly double its registration by the end of 2014 to stay on the ballot. "Thank you for breaking through your mind control programming (and coming to the town-hall meeting) and having some free thought," she told the crowd. "Marijuana really does help you break through that and remember what is important." The crowd reacted with thunderous applause and chants of "Rosie, Rosie, Rosie." The 59-year-old Barr said she has … [Read more...]

Peace and Freedom on the CA Ballot

Keep the Peace and Freedom Party on the California Ballot TO: The People of the State of California/Registered Voters The signing of this petition is of paramount importance because there needs to be voices other than those of the Democratic and Republican Parties...which do not represent real choices. President Obama has taken more money from Bain Capital than has Mitt Romney. He took more Banker money in the last Selection Cycle than did John McCain. President Obama Insisted that the incarceration provisions in the NDAA remain in the Bill, he has Droned people in three years much more than Bush did in eight, he appointed Michael Taylor of Monsanto to be head of FOOD at the FDA, has held fewer Press Conferences than Bush, opened up more War Fronts, is lying about Syria and Libya (now we hear of moveable WMD in Syria, just like Iraq), he has Terror Tuesdays (described by the NY Times) where, with unnamed NSC staffers, he decides whom to assassinate anywhere in the world..including US Citizens. Mitt Romney will be/would be an equal Horror. … [Read more...]
