  3. Unfortunatly some insurance rather fund Viagra than help women with serious issues. Thanks for the info.

  4. My understanding is that all of their services are on a sliding scale, you pay what you can afford to pay. Your insurance must suck or your doc or nurse practitioner must not be able to justify the claim/illness to substantiate treatment. “Perhaps I’ll try it. I’ll support tax money going to preventative measures, as well as other issues that many companies do not consider important to insure also, women who need an abortion as a last resort.” I have never met a woman who did not view abortion as a last resort. I am not here to argue insurance claims although my husband is in the medical field and I am informed to a certain degree but that by not getting ones way i.e. the overturn of Roe V. Wade a further attack is now launched on basic women’s medical treatment by cutting funding to an organization that does much more then perform abortions.

  5. I think all males that are interfering in a womans right to choose, should step up to the plate and be castrated with a dull knife, then we would not be subjected to another generation of hypocritical(?) B.S.if anything needed to be aborted it is the rep. party.Disgusting vermen.

  6. So let’s say a women who has an adequate job, with dysmenorrhea or menorrhagia, and insurance will not cover treatment for this, which usually involves some sort of birth control. Can this individual walk in to planned parent hood, and have this taken care of. Your statement suggest that planned parent hood would, but I’m not convinced. Perhaps I’ll try it. I’ll support tax money going to preventative measures, as well as other issues that many companies do not consider important to insure also, women who need an abortion as a last resort.

  7. Planned parent fed monies do not pay for abortions, they raise private donations for this aspect of their work. By cutting their funding, you are cutting their ability to use this money toward providing free or reduced cost abortions for poor women. Last I checked Roe v Wade still stands and clearly I don’t assert that government should pay for this but by restricting these dollars you are restricting this right to poor women. The wealthy will continue to be able to pay for this service. If one thinks that only poor women seek abortions we are greatly misinformed. This is a direct assault on poor women in our nation!

  8. Planned Parenthood Federation of America
Mission Statement: A Reason for Being
Planned Parenthood believes in the fundamental right of each individual, throughout the world, to manage his or her fertility, regardless of the individual’s income, marital status, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, national origin, or residence. We believe that respect and value for diversity in all aspects of our organization are essential to our well-being. We believe that reproductive self-determination must be voluntary and preserve the individual’s right to privacy. We further believe that such self-determination will contribute to an enhancement of the quality of life and strong family relationships.
Based on these beliefs, and reflecting the diverse communities within which we operate, the mission of Planned Parenthood is
1.to provide comprehensive reproductive and complementary health care services in settings which preserve and protect the essential privacy and rights of each individual
2.to advocate public policies which guarantee these rights and ensure access to such services
3.to provide educational programs which enhance understanding of individual and societal implications of human sexuality
4.to promote research and the advancement of technology in reproductive health care and encourage understanding of their inherent bioethical, behavioral, and social implications

  9. I wish birth control was easily accessible and more affordable for the average person (over $100 for the non generic depot shot not including the yearly exams they require). Other options can be pricy too, and not covered by insurance. I know they handle abortions but can any one go to planned parent hood and receive birth control and exams for free? Just wondering.

  10. I TOTALLY Agree! Thank the GODDESS that Obama didn’t cave into those right-wing nuts last night by gutting funding to Planned Parenthood! Haven’t heard much about the EPA tho; I hope that is still intact…

  11. urbanteach says:

Planned Parent phoned looking for donations. None of the fed monies pays for abortions, that is all private funding but the assholes want to cut major budgets to anyone who performs abortions. Everyone needs to support this organization whatever the dollar amount. I am contributing 50 bucks (I know little) and I want my money to go specifically for a woman’s right to chose. Planned Parenthood it the enemy? While they sell their “christian values” and arm the crazy folks with guns who shoot and kill abortion performing docs… God Save Me From Your Followers!
