this is what i think is going to happen, based on the signs i see:
I gotta say, I don’t think that gay rights would be anywhere near where we are now if it hadn’t been for the organizational skills and prodding of the gay sisters. I also gotta say that some of the best times of my life were spent at dyke parties and playing cards and bingo with a bunch of cussin, fussin, smokin, jokin, drinkin bawdy old broads!
SNAP is a joke; I believe they are using grocery prices from 1950!! And there is no cash to be had either – just food stamps, which of course helps a wee bit. But it is only for food. I guess we do not need deodorant, detergent, shampoo, and the like. AND, what about your pets? Why doesn’t SNAP cover dog/cat food? We have done a service by adopting our animals and with a 100 lb. shepherd, the food is quite expensive! My daughter babysits for a living since finishing high school. She is going to college in the fall, but needed to save a bunch of money before attending. On and on and on…… we go………..
and of course the generosity of friends and family. I am not as fuct as i could b. Thank goddess ljg doesnt have any offspring to support….Luckily us dykes can team up and work together in the” 2 has the power of three, and three has the power of four, etc.” kind of way. We are now the nuevo poor, we used to be the lower middle. I worked in ” professional” Kitchens before becoming a farmers market vendor, and i really dont know how a grown adult, male or female is supposed to survive on minimum wage! as it is, the SNAP runs out after 2 trips to the grocery! living on Rice and Beans, if your lucky…….

Family night now consist of a sack full of value-menu items from McD’s. And the more f*up thing is that it’s the only company still there to hire those who’s unemployment may not be extended. Want cold fries with that wilted burger?

Thanks! The landslide began 9 years ago and we tried and tried everything to stay afloat but it did us in physically and mentally! What I really wanted to add above is that through all of this, the electrical union has continued and keeps extending our medical benefits! Now, what other private sector, or even government job, would provide that? We would be even more screwed without health insurance! We need unions; they are supposed to protect us from the “Walker’s” of the world, and they just cannot come in and take away what our union leaders busted their asses to provide to us years ago! I really am physically sick right now – most likely an ulcer, i get tested Monday and also mysteriously now have a thyroid disorder – tested for that tomorrow! I am sick because i am very fearful of where we will go from here, as i am sure millions are. My husband is so upset as well – he went to school for FIVE years when we were first married to become an electrician, so now what? Something has got to give soon, but thanks to the union we can be treated for all our ailments caused by this crap!! And on and on and on…….

I grew up in the projects and my mother always feared that they were a convenient way for the powers that be to easily round up poor people and eliminate us. She was probably right.

In Illinois, we are very, very scared. We WERE middle class, my husband became sick, his business closed down while he was sick, I am sick and have filed for SSDI, for which I probably will not get! Now that my husband is getting better, there are 3000 electricians out of work but get on the list. What to do in the meantime??? Well – he has to go back to school to learn another career. Where do we get the money for that? He makes $2k per month on his disability from the union. Our rent – yes, rent b/c we lost our home to foreclosure back in 2007 and our mortgage was not on fake paper. What happened back then was BUSH, post 9/11! During Clinton, my husband’s business thrived, he had very good clients, and I worked as well, and we were called the middle class. This was a small business mind you – a MIDDLE CLASS business that will never be seen again. We are shit out of luck, have three children – ages 19, 14, and 5; we have moved three times in the past four years with our current rental being our hope of purchase. Husband gets sick and now we have to move again! I am sure many of you know what it is like to move these school-age children from one district to another; let us just say they already have self esteem and emotional problems. We are now looking to move to a southern state where the property taxes are not $10k per year! We have been to WI in support of our jobs, but as one poster above put it, the fricking right wingers are taking over with no consideration for laws, union protection (ha!), and they get away with it b/c SO FEW from the left are standing up for it and stopping it b/c – yep – we do not have the money to do enough! So anyway, our immediate lives are in very dire straights, and there is no end in sight. We have become the poor now and to rise to the right wingers way of living just will not happen! What do we do to stop this? Why is Obama not turning out to be on our side? Why has no one been arrested for the financial collapse of this country? Where does my family move next – which we will have to do when we get the eviction notice? WHAT IS GOING ON??!!! Obama can pull Osama out of his butt, but that does not help me or the millions of other former middle class Americans living the poor life now!!! And what about the original poor; someone help them b/c if I am poor now, shit, I am a lucky ass comparatively! I could go on and on and on, but I will stop for now b/c I have to take care of some bankruptcy paperwork and get my sick ass to the doctor for all the expensive testing they want done for me. Not to mention that we are scared to death for our kids’ future and it is causing neuro problems for my husband! On and on and on……….! And you can take Sheen and his spoiled self up a river! Who cares??!!

With the way the average American is just turning a blind eye and ignoring what is going on it really could happen. We have allowed corporations and bankers to steal the taxpayers money for 10 years now with no consequences. We are allowing them to break the unions right now. Work camps are the only option soon left to the average American worker besides homelessness. That is how the powers in charge are setting it up. Thanks Roseanne for that idea.

I was talking to one of my employer’s customers from CA…she is a Native Californian..and she said something that is so similar to your statement ” docile work force of fat americans who will work for fake cheeseburgers fries, cokes and hot apple pies, and be happy to live in work camps.”….she said “the government wants everyone to either work in governmental jobs..controlled environment or be on welfare”..and to me…welfare would be flippin’ burgers and serving fries that have addictive ingrediants in them.
She also said, coming from a state that has been taxed and bled out dry, that my home state WI is even crazier….and yeah, I would have to agree. About 90% of government aid goes to the southern part of the state while we in the northern part are making a lower wage and getting virtually no educational aid (last year, out of a multi-million dollar educational grant that was given to WI, the school districts around my area received anywhere from NOTHING AT ALL to $1500 while the southern part of the state again raked in everything. So should I have to move to a bigger city in the southern part of the state for my daughter to have a better chance and choice of schools (currently there is only one middle school-not even 10 years ago, there were 5)and become one of the masses shuffling from Wal-Mart to Burger King?—HELL NO. I will take my chances here and learn how to garden more efficiently.

It would be great if we could ever switch to a system like this! It would definitely help the homelessness and poverty problems, instead of monetary payment for wages just offer wages in the form of food and shelter. Its all the average American really works for anyway so eliminate the problem of unemployment and underemployment!!
