To hear the Republicans describe it, it's because too many working class idiots were given mortgages that they really couldn't afford. Here's the truth: The number one cause of people declaring bankruptcy is because of medical bills. Let me state this simply: If we had had universal health coverage, this mortgage "crisis" may never have happened.
P.S. Having read further the details of this bailout bill, you need to know you are being lied to. They talk about how they will prevent golden parachutes. It says NOTHING about what these executives and fat cats will make in SALARY. According to Rep. Brad Sherman of California, these top managers will continue to receive million-dollar-a-month paychecks under this new bill. There is no direct ownership given to the American people for the money being handed over. Foreign banks and investors will be allowed to receive billion-dollar handouts. A large chunk of this $700 billion is going to be given directly to Chinese and Middle Eastern banks. There is NO guarantee of ever seeing that money again.
P.P.S. From talking to people I know in DC, they say the reason so many Dems are behind this is because Wall Street this weekend put a gun to their heads and said either turn over the $700 billion or the first thing we'll start blowing up are the pension funds and 401(k)s of your middle class constituents. The Dems are scared they may make good on their threat. But this is not the time to back down or act like the typical Democrat we have witnessed for the last eight years. The Dems handed a stolen election over to Bush. The Dems gave Bush the votes he needed to invade a sovereign country. Once they took over Congress in 2007, they refused to pull the plug on the war. And now they have been cowered into being accomplices in the crime of the century. You have to call them now and say "NO!" If we let them do this, just imagine how hard it will be to get anything good done when President Obama is in the White House. THESE DEMOCRATS ARE ONLY AS STRONG AS THE BACKBONE WE GIVE THEM. McCain seemed old and out of date while rattling the Israeli sabre for war with Iran by referencing the Holocaust, which I found to be disturbing and despicable and obsolete, as are all of his militaristic solutions that underline every issue he addresses.
I found Obama to be a lithe thinker who is open to solutions and new thought. I found him to be inclusive in his comments while McCain was exclusive, and had that familiar Republican sneer that is a required accessory for his demographic. McCain was mining the old "compassionate conservative" con, and referencing the author of the failure of our economy right now, whose name was Ronald Reagan. That McCain stands on top of the heap of rubble that Reagan put into economic play and speaks reverentially of him still just says it all!
Trickle down economics is when the rich piss on the poor, and John McCain thinks that's swell. Obama tried to remind Americans of what is morally right and what is morally wrong, and that was fantastic to witness. McCain defends the status quo instead of the moral right.

speaking in public again:
last time with rev. al in st louis(to raise the minimum wage) was an incredible experience in god/action for me. I was rushed by hundreds of people who wanted to touch me to say thank you for acknowledging and honoring the people of the working class. So hungry were these people for a representative voice, however removed, that i was shaken to my core and overwhelmed by compassion, respect, solidarity and admiration for them. I told them I would keep on speaking for them and i will. G-d help the poor people all over the world! G-d help the poor rich people who have profited from the suffering of the poor! Dear Sis:
Like millions of other Americans I need a bail-out in order to stay in my home. The preferable bail out would be in the form of a loan modification from GMAC. I believe that within an hour and a half a 700 billion dollar bail out will be pushed through and announced.
How great a solution if a stipulation of 50% of that 700 billion was used to help millions of Americans like me stay in our homes (although I believe we will need WAY more STIMULUS than that to stave off what is coming.) The trickle UP effect would merely address a small part of the problem.
GMAC like most mortgage companies would rather see a short sale of my house than extend a loan modification to us because it is just as easy for them to make close to the same amount of money. They simply have no incentive to work with us, The American Homeowner.
As credit markets tighten I can't imagine it will be any easier to get a loan modification. Right now they say we make too much money for them to help us (lower middle class folk.) This is where the road hits the rubber. This is the BAIL OUT that our government could provide that would help average Americans like me STAY IN OR HOMES (something they all say they want to help us do!)
"Cynthia McKinny is the only political voice that I am aware of who has addressed this very important issue. I so appreciate her for that.
Offering 30 and 40 year loans while we re-do equity/risk/value is certainly one of the emergency steps our government could take to stablilize the American Family.

Crisis? Yeah? - Some questions for everyone from Johnny:
It's ironic when telling people NOT to panic makes YOU the crazy one!
Could this "crisis" mostly be on paper? That's where the Financial wizards kept all their Science Fiction Future "value and equity" that nobody can find, now, but they were so good at selling and spreading real thin. You know, the place where Bush wanted to put everybody's Social security and retirement funds awhile back? Good Old Wall Street. Welcome to the Shock Market! That's where Bush got Henry Paulson. Or - was it the other way around?
Let's look beneath their house of cards at the foundation that the REAL elitists forget is truly holding everything up. Has everyone quit working at everything? Have the crops stopped growing in the fields? Have the chickens stopped laying eggs? Did the sun get nervous about its future - and decide not to extend any more energy resources our way? Are literal roofs caving in all over the world in response to all that bad paper that was sold and now isn't worth the paper it was printed on? No.
So, the question that remains? Who or what along the whole great fabric that really gets us all from one day to the next is stamping their little feet and wrinkling up their eyebrows and saying that "we" are just too depleted and screwed and it's all going over the falls? What do YOU think? Looks like the rich paper-pushing speculators and double-talkers to me.
How huge are the balls on The Free Marketeers like Paulson, Bush, McCain and all the rest who tell us they HATE taxes while insisting they have to shove the debt catheter further into the peoples' last good vein?

Also, tonight, I went to the Harvey Milk Club meeting. The Harvey Milk Club is THE political club in SF.
In June, they endorsed Pelosi for the primary. Tonight, with about 50 of our campaign workers and volunteers, we convince the Club to vote on rescinding their endorsement of Pelosi and to vote to endorse me. Those votes will take place in early October. (I heard the votes were at least 90% in my favor!) Not one person stood to speak for Pelosi. The Harvey Milk Club is chartered by the DCCC, so their actions tonight are above courageous and I honor the integrity of the members of the club and I was thrilled with the overwhelming response to my campaign and message. My short speech was interrupted about 5 times by standing ovations!
An endorsement for me (because I am not a Democrat) seems a little shaky, but if we can get them to rescind their endorsement of Pelosi, that's huge! My thanks to Denise D'Anne and Catherine Cusick (two officers) for spearheading this effort and to the Club for giving us the opportunity to compete for this very valuable endorsement!

I realized that I am G-d, and this thought means I am clinically insane. the study of kabballah makes one go insane because it makes one understand that there is no seperation between ourselves the earth the cosmos and the most high G-d. to eat!! So here is a quick recipe for a cake in a mug!!!
One day, when you're eating this cake to your hearts
content, you'll be thanking me for this recipe!!!!!
And we all fall off the diet wagon every now and then!!!!
DANGEROUS CHOCOLATE CAKE-IN-A-MUG
1 coffee mug
4 Tbsp. cake flour (plain, not self-rising)
4 Tbsp. sugar
2 Tbsp. cocoa
1 egg
3 Tbsp. milk
3 Tbsp. oil
Small splash of vanilla
3 Tbsp. chocolate chips, optional
Add dry ingredients to mug, mix well with a fork.
Add egg, mix thoroughly.
Pour in milk and oil and vanilla, mix well.
Add chips, if using.
Put mug in microwave, and cook for three minutes
on 1000 watts.
Cake will rise over top of mug--do not be alarmed!
Allow to cool a little; tip onto a plate if desired.
Eat!
(This can serve two if you want to feel slightly more
virtuous.)

We the people must now seize the time! We have always had the capability of determining our own destiny, but for various reasons, the people failed to elect the leaders who provided the correct political will.
There was always some corporate or private special interest that stood in the way of the public good. And they always seemed to have the power of the purse to throw around and influence public opinion or our elected officials.
The very foundation of the U.S. economy is crumbling underneath our feet. This represents a unique moment in U.S. history and we must now seize the time for self-determination--for health care, education, ecological wisdom, justice, and all the policies that will make a difference in the lives of the people including an end to all wars, including the drug war!
The crisis was staved off for a time for some of our major finance engines when they were able to obtain bridge funding from certain sovereign wealth funds. That option grows increasingly dim as The Federal Reserve is becoming the lender of last resort. This means that the people are becoming the owners of the primary instruments of U.S. capital and finance.
This now means that the people have a say in how these instruments are to be used and what their priorities ought to be. The people should now have more say in how their tax dollars are spent and what the priorities of government an the public sector must be. We the people must now set our demands to ensure and promote the public good.
Now, as we ponder the importance of this moment to do good and serve the needs of the people, some politicians have already figured out their answer for us: win or steal the next election, prepare for more war, and leave it to others to try and figure out what to do next.
While banks are failing all around us and the U.S. taxpayer is drenched with news of billion dollar bailouts for *selected* companies, the Congress, which has utterly failed in its twin responsibilities of setting policy and Executive Branch oversight, plans to adjourn instead of setting new policies; lessening the impact of the economic freefall on innocent victims; or stopping war, expansion of war, new war, and occupation.
In a dizzying turn of recent events, we have all witnessed the collapse of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac mortgage providers, investment banks Lehman Brothers and Bear Stearns, and insurer American International Group (AIG), and other companies. So far, at least eleven banks have filed for bankruptcy this year. The case of the AIG bailout is particularly curious as Merrill Lynch was denied taxpayer largesse. I wonder if AIG was the selected company for bailout because of its relationship to the U.S. intelligence community and what others would discover if AIG's books were opened in an audit. The last person to get close to AIG and its shady operations was Eliott Spitzer.
But some more fundamental issues must be explored here, relating to the underlying assumptions that have guided U.S. political and economic activity, particularly over the last eight years.
The Bush Administration's "anything goes, just don't get caught" attitude has set the tone for what we are witnessing today. To be sure these problems didn't start in January of 2001, but they sure were allowed to accelerate during the George W. Bush Administration. For example, what tone was set when the Administration shipped $12 billion to Paul Bremer's provisional
government in Iraq in cash on wooden pallets for Iraq reconstruction? No wonder $9 billion of it was "lost." What I'm constantly reminded of is that the money didn't just vanish, somebody got it. Now it's up to us to find out who!
However, the Administration's blatant disregard for good governance, the rule of law, standards of moral and ethical conduct, and even etiquette, when coupled with a laissez-faire, "go-along-to-get-along" attitude from Congress meant that no holes were barred and no hands were on the deck--a sure prescription for disaster.
In my reading over the course of the last few years, I had to become somewhat conversant with the language of the new economy: bundled mortgages, securitization, SPEs, SIVs, derivatives. But in addition to the old concepts that always seemed to be with us--predatory lending, redlining, no affordable housing amid "the housing bubble,"-- it soon became clear that basically folks had figured out a way to make money off of a ticking time bomb. Kind of like prisons for profit.
And even though the Enron scandal was supposed to have cleaned up a lot of this, unfortunately, even Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac regularly engaged in some of these practices and that's why you and I own them today. I believe it is true that the very foundations of the U.S. economy and conventional political behavior have been shaken. Now is not the time for business as usual.
And although this is by no ways exhaustive, here are a few things that I think the Democratic-led Congress could work on now instead of adjourning:
1. enactment of a foreclosure moratorium now before the next phase of ARM interest rate increases take effect;
2. elimination of all ARM mortgages and their renegotiation into 30- or 40-year loans;
3. establishment of new mortgage lending practices to end predatory and discriminatory practices;
4. establishment of criteria and construction goals for affordable housing;
5. redefinition of credit and regulation of the credit industry so that discriminatory practices are completely eliminated;
6. full funding for initiatives that eliminate racial and ethnic disparities in home ownership;
7. recognition of shelter as a right according to the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights to which the U.S. is a signatory so that no one sleeps on U.S. streets;
8. full funding of a fund designed to cushion the job loss and provide for retraining of those at the bottom of the income scale as the economy transitions;
9. close all tax loopholes and repeal of the Bush tax cuts for the top 1% of income earners;
10. fairly tax corporations, denying federal subsidies to those who relocate jobs overseas repeal NAFTA.
And since the Congress plans to adjourn early and leave these problems to The Federal Reserve, The Federal Reserve should operate in the interests of the U.S. taxpayer and not the interests of the private, international bankers that it currently represents. This, of course means that The Federal Reserve, too, must undergo a fundamental ownership and mission change.
This crisis does not have to be treated as merely a "market correction," or the result of a few rotten apples in an otherwise pristine barrel. This crisis truly represents the opportunity to introduce fundamental changes in the way the U.S. economy and its political stewards operate.
Responsible political leadership demands that the pain and suffering being experienced by the innocent today not be revisited upon them or the next generation tomorrow. But sadly, instead of affirmative action being taken in this direction, the Bush Administration ratchets up the drumbeat for war, Republican Party operatives busily remove duly-registered voters from the voter rolls, and our elected leaders in the Congress go home to campaign while leaving all of us to fend for ourselves. For the Administration and the Democrat-led Congress, I declare: MISSION UNACCOMPLISHED.

At the Arava Institute, that inspiration will soon arrive in the form of the students attending the fall semester - Jews, Muslims, and Christians from Israel, Jordan, the Palestinian Authority, and beyond that have made the courageous choice to live, study, and build trust with others with whom they would never have otherwise had the opportunity to meet.
These are the heroes of the Arava Institute story, and twelve years since the Institute's inception, those heroes are making a difference not only on our campus but in their home communities, home countries, and throughout the world.
Our alumni network has become the first self-governing membership organization in the Middle East that includes Israelis and Arabs. In the past year, our alumni have been invited to make presentations at the United Nations, on CNN International, and at conferences from the United States to Jordan to Australia. Their heroism has been lauded by luminaries including Prince Albert II of Monaco, Elie Wiesel, Shimon Peres, and King Abudallah II of Jordan.
But while the Arava Institute students are heroes, our ability to provide the necessary support to enable their work, through scholarships, faculty, research, and facilities, relies on the generosity of the many supporters, like you, who understand and support the Institute's vital mission. i dreamed i would help a black woman who is a true follower of christ's message. How weird that the day is here. The vision was a cowboy on a horse who floated into the window and then grew ten times his size inside the room, as his finger elongated, and pointing to me, nullified all the fears and curses that attend the genocide of one's entire family, as well as it's belongings, and even photographs. The cowboy told me that one day i would be called to stand for truth, and that when that day came I could not refuse. I was three years old, and that was the initial split of my personality. and a very talented humorist. Thanks Bill, it was fun hanging out and doing your show. I want to have a big hollywood party this year and see all of my old friends. It was also fun yesterday to hang out with lecy sarah, chalkie, fishie, and laurie. It was as if not a day had gone by, let alone ten whole years! (we did a photo shoot for ent. weekly mag. that is coming out with a whole article on the sitcom and dredging up all the old shit that I have been trying to live down for twenty years now, and never goes away, no matter what i say or do, or different things I try...oh well!...thanks for the money, hollywood!!)

The democrats fail to see the truth...that the women of this country will decide this election, and they are waiting to see what Obama does about Hillary, before they vote for him. Exactly as it would be if things were reversed, and she had won. She would have to woo the aa vote, and promise to appoint bho to a cabinet post. Where is his promise? I was a little tongue tied last night on the bill maher show. I think I may have been in a state of paralysis looking across and knowing that my idol, salmon rushdie was sitting there. After the show, I got to speak with him for quite a while about Jerusalem and about peace and religion and women and all the things I like to talk about. I got his autograph too! It was awesome. He is a giant of this century, and it was very humbling.

If (white) women vote for sarah palin over obama, because of his race, then I support revoking the nineteenth amendment. For women to use their vote to give government more power over women's freedom proves that they are mentally unfit to cast an informed vote for a decent leader. This was the argument that men who opposed female suffrage used, and it worked for several decades. Perhaps our collective mental state is deficient after all, I think while watching Sarah Palin. I can see how republican men would not want her for their president, if say, old johnnymac bites it (two years tops). She will obviously do whatever she is told to do by the oil companies she works for, so republicans love that. But, if those oil companies oppose attacking Russia, she is going to be put into a bind. She is a devout evangelical. Her minister will remind her that Gog must destroy Magog, (us v. russia) as per the Book Of Revelations,in order to begin the battle of Armageddon in which all the jews in Israel must die, so as to hasten Jesus' return. Republicans will prefer the oil business profits to Christ's return, so they should actually vote for Obama!
Her church advocates using a meditation that is practice for shutting down your critical thought processes so that you can speak in "tongues" ( jibberish which is called "receiving the gift of the holy spirit"). A vote for her is a no brainer, and I really mean a no brainer.

the mark of the beast. It was on that dark and terrifying day that I beheld from my bed of depression nyc burning and a man jumping upside down from a building because he had chosen death over hope of rescue. On the ground I saw firemen looking up at a behomouth that they could not contain. I saw not the obvious horror being talked about on screen, but new yorkers themselves come alive with sharing and with helping and with risking and joining and with determination and concern for a higher good with no thought of race or position. People in suits were applauding the firemen, and others of those who do all the real work that keeps things standing and living and moving. Blue collar people were being honored, workers thanked. For that brief moment, no one was putting bullshit ahead of what's real. I saw my dream of america come alive on television. i saw the good there before it was used against we "viewers". I vowed to fight my own depression and instead take action for the world I wanted to help manifest. I decided to do it with no psychiatric medicines, but only with prayer alone (meditation).
I decided that making money would not matter to me as much as seeing people really laugh away fear.
Laughter is the last and best weapon against hypocrites. the laughter of old women is the thing all patriarchy (endless war) fears most. LOL.
i saw people helping people, and I was so proud of americans on that blackest and yet most telling day.

angelina jolie is a great actress, one of my favorites, and she is a deeply committed humanitarian who puts her money where her mouth is, but I just want to add to the whole good thinking stuff out there...I think that people should adopt whole communities instead of just children...what it takes to educate just one child as an american citizen and world traveler could feed and school and house a village...maybe she is doing this too, which i have heard she is. I just want the press to pick up on that for a change. Also the fact is that only one month of the us military budget could feed and house every single person on this planet for a year...reality is true! (just sayin')

And Now, A Few Words From Another Maverick
Like many Americans I was surprised and something like pleased when I first heard that John McCain had chosen a woman for a running mate. But that didn't last for long. There is so much that Sarah Palin represents that goes against my grain as a woman and as an American. Now that I'm seeing her being hailed as someone very much like the character I created, Roseanne Connor, I really have to speak up. I'm very aware that lots of Americans are almost in love with this woman they'd never heard of just a couple of weeks ago. So, speaking of going against the grain, what I'm compelled by my conscience to say may not be what a lot of Americans want to hear. But as our brave and esteemed Vice President said awhile back when told that our disastrous policy in Iraq was strongly opposed by three out of four Americans: "So?" Sometimes you have to stand against the crowd and say what you know in your heart is right and true.
As to the Roseanne Connor Sarah Palin comparison: for starters, In nine years of The Roseanne Show, you didn't hear much of anything about Religion per se, or Roseanne's family's faith. You just saw a very unglamorous mom doing her best to make ends meet and help her family deal with the ups and downs of life and to nag and joke and push and pull her kids into being decent human beings. She may have had a big mouth and a short fuse, but she was always there for her kids and her husband. Those were her Family values. The Connors sure weren't the most picture perfect family on the block. Unlike Sarah Palin, Roseanne Connor wasn't anyone's idea of a beauty queen, that's for sure. She was an unrepentant fat woman in a calorie-counting, jazzercizing treadmill-pounding world. Now THAT'S a maverick. I mention Religion first and use the word maverick because in real life I grew up in the State of Utah and I'm Jewish. Let that sink in for a second, would you, Dear reader? Then, and even now it's always made me wince a little when folks loudly and proudly proclaim, over and over that America is "...first and foremost, a Christian nation!" That bold statement full of intense pride, which as I understand it isn't exactly supposed to be at the top of the list of Christian virtues, actually caused us to hide the fact that my family's faith wasn't on the sanctioned list in our Mormon State and neighborhood. If I had a dollar for every time I heard the term dirty Jew! or someone told me in anger that "You killed my Jesus," I could have retired before I was out of High School. My little brother, who was gay, had his nose broken nine times by the time he was nine years old. He would be routinely beaten every day on the way home from school, called a dirty jew and a faggot. My brother put himself through school and is working on getting his PHD degree (he is the first person in my family ever to graduate from college, and will be its first doctor). He worked as a community organizer to get through college! How dare you snicker at that!
PART TWO:
My brother studies the data on how tax money can be more effectively used to help people improve their lives. Palin should look into that for her constituents, instead of working to squander their tax dollars for entitlements for her rich friends!! She was telling the people in her church how to vote! That is completely disrespectful to those troops who are out there fighting to defend America, who happens to guarantee her people a seperation between God and Mammon!
Have you ever actually prayed for the separation of Church and State? I have and do, because without that right, this country will be no better than a Taliban State!! Most Americans are with The Founding Fathers on this one.
Oh, by the way, speaking of school, I was fat and unpopular, then and there, too. Pile on the Jewish thing and, again, the word Maverick comes to mind. I wasn't on the basketball team or any other team, for that matter.
Maybe one of the similarities between Conner and Palin is that they're both cutting and sarcastic. I saw plenty of that at The Republican Convention from Palin and everyone else. Funny how poor people (especially minorities) are always told to pull themselves up by their bootstraps and how it's all about Family, but when an African American kid, with an arab name is raised and supported by his single mom with some help from his grandparents graduates from a world class university and goes into public service and succeeds at it...in short does every single thing the republican party always tells minorities, working folks and women that they SHOULD do, he's called an "elitist"!
Sarah Palin has sort of come out of nowhere and is instantly "wildly popular" on the strength of one speech, but Obama, at the end of a longer climb is called, with a sneer, a "rock star" and a celebrity. To quote an actual rock star, these are "...strange days, indeed!"
She wants to deny her own daughters a choice, and that says everything there is to say about her as a feminist to me!!
People are allowed to say anything they want; after all, it's still a free country, but I really wish they'd stop saying that Sarah Palin is a whole lot like Roseanne Connor. I created Roseanne Conner and with all due respect, Sarah Palin is no Roseanne Connor.
Here, as we face together September 11, the anniversary of one of the darkest days in American history I want to say, "God bless America and ALL of her people, regardless of race, color, or Religion, economic class, age, gender, gayness, place of birth or native born. Let's put the "US" back in USA and remember to stress the sisterhood and brotherhood of Human Family values. We're told, after all, that God is watching us. I know our children are and so is the rest of the World. Shouldn't we act accordingly?

With a wink and big smile, she said you will "have a friend in the White House". However, on the off-chance that she will become the Vice President of the United States, she still won't be occupying the White House. That will fall to John McCain who has declared that he will not support the Community Choice Act. He even states that publicly in this video. John McCain is NOT a friend to people with disabilties. And, as the record apparently shows, neither is Sarah Palin who actually cut funding for special needs programs in Alaska (and for unwed teenage mothers). (It's not a fashion statement, it's a testament to the fact I've got other more pressing uses for my time.) Wow, I just counted up my responsibilities...looks like I've got 5 kids too. However, I don't have a whole state at my disposal and I certainly don't have national support for my work.
Without the Community Choice Act, none of us will.
The argument that the two parties should represent opposed ideals and policies, one, perhaps, of the Right and the other of the Left, is a foolish idea acceptable only to doctrinaire and academic thinkers. Instead, the two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can "throw the rascals out" at any election without leading to any profound or extensive shifts in policy.

The Government just let out the news, this morning! They ARE using our money (taxpayers) to bail out those mammoth lending institutions. We're stuck with the bill. I would say we'll "own" those institutions...but - Oh, NO! That would be something that a "dangerous" Socialist like Hugo Chavez would do; he would NATIONALIZE the lending industry and all the citizens would OWN these huge outfits! Oh, my GOD! Can you imagine, for example: ALL the people of a country owning ALL the oil beneath it? Crazy, right Cornservatives?
Our "leaders" would never perform such a sacreligious deed at the altar of unimpeachable Capitalism. No! Would they "let" the people, the whole Nation, OWN that "mighty" industry even though they PAY for it? Never! That way lies madness to the McCains of this cockeyed "Conservative" Coup. They, after all, want Government to stay out of Business's business. Yeah, while the money's pouring IN. But when the greedy, dishonest "entrepreneurs" screw up...."HELP!" They whine. "Where's our enormous Welfare check?"
The Lending Clusterfuck: Of course, it's okay for us to PAY for it. We can "bail it out" - again! - we can "buy" it, basically - we just can't HAVE it.
The balls of The Right Wing in The US have now, in my estimation, officially eclipsed the Planet. They HATE, above all, to PAY taxes and they act like anyone who dreams of raising them is a dangerous heretic. But they sure love to spend them, don't they?

mccain moves ahead by four-ten points in the polls
Obama should have picked Hillary, every single poll in america told him to do that, and the polls told him too that women would turn against him if he didn't. He risked it all, and placed the future of middle america in jeopardy for his vanity. Palin is his payback for not doing so. She is also right wing payback to women for supporting a woman (Hillary) in the first place. You have to admire so much about her though, you cannot help but do that. She is not what she appears however, she is an enemy of women's rights and equality. She is the republican painted bird, the perfect female candidate/beauty queen/fertility goddess for an increasingly locked down America.
The week before the rnc I wrote here that if Mccain chose a woman, it would be a brilliant move, and he just might pull it out. I also wrote here that if Obama made appointing Hillary to the Supreme Court part of his promise, he could clinch it. In February, I told Obama to bow to the women, I could see that he had a huge and devastating blindspot there. Somehow, he still continues to marginalize the deciding factor. Lefties are so often passive aggressive, and seem to prefer to prove a point rather than to succeed. I feared all along that he could only win against Hillary, having marshaled all the forces of sexism to his side against her. It didn't take alot of brains for rove to see that sexism was the democratic achilles heel. The republicans are really sneering now, and taunting too. Guiliani was jubilant in his disdain for the black community that Obama helped move from welfare to work. The republicans tell black people and other minorities to pull themselves up by their bootsraps, and when like barack and michelle, they do, then they call them elitists.

the "women's" vote:
it used to be about issues...day care, health leave, health care, pay equity. Now, it's about punishing women and dismantling their hard earned civil rights, and the right to BIRTH CONTROL. The Right has defined birth control as being abortion. Palin doesn't believe that women or girls should have birth control. She believes every raped female who gets pregnant should have to carry the child to term. She believes that telling teenaged girls about condoms is morally wrong, because it prevents them from getting pregnant, and not getting pregnant is wrong if you have sex at all. sex is only for pro-creation. She believes that women who get pregnant responsibly are misinformed. She is against helping pregnant women in any way as well. She believes that even though women have a responsibility to get pregnant as much as they can, that the children they give birth to are better off with their fathers, since their mothers must be off busily passing laws preventing other women from not getting pregnant when they are practicing "abstinence". I get it now!
