Roseanne revival officially happening at ABC
Roseanne is coming back.
On Tuesday, ABC chief Channing Dungey confirmed to reporters ahead of ABC’s upfronts presentation that a revival of Roseanne is being planned at the network for a 2018 debut. Original stars Roseanne Barr (Roseanne), John Goodman (Dan), Sara Gilbert (Darlene), Laurie Metcalf (Jackie), Michael Fishman (D.J.), and Lecy Goranson (Becky) will appear on the show, which will also feature Sarah Chalke (who played Becky in later seasons) in an undefined role.
“The Conners’ joys and struggles are as relevant — and hilarious — today as they were then, and there’s really no one better to comment on our modern America than Roseanne,” Dungey in a press release.

Roseanne Could Be TV’s Most Timely Revival Yet
Cue the saxophone and harmonica—because a Roseanne revival is on its way.
According to Variety, Roseanne Barr, John Goodman, and Sara Gilbert are all set to revive the iconic, irreverent sitcom. In the original series, which ran for nine seasons on ABC from 1988 to 1997, Barr played the titular matriarch, while Goodman played her beer-loving, motorcyclist-enthusiast husband, Dan, and Gilbert portrayed her brooding middle child Darlene. Throughout its run, the sitcom racked up critical acclaim and several awards for its stars, which also included Laurie Metcalf—who collected three Emmys for her portrayal of Jackie Harris, Roseanne’s sister.

‘Roseanne’ Revival Trailer: 33 Million Views And Counting
ABC’s Roseanne revival trailer is generating lots of online buzz. Since its premiere at the network’s upfront presentation on May 16, the trailer has gotten 33.2 million views across Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.
Most of the views have been generated on Facebook, with 31.6 million views. The trailer also has gotten the most shares of new ABC series trailers on Facebook, with 407,000.
ABC’s The Good Doctor trailer comes in second to Roseanne, with 25.4 million views, 22 million of those on Facebook. Trailers for The Mayor, The Gospel of Kevin and The Crossing also had strong showings, with 13.7 million, 7.7 million and 4.4 million views, respectively since the May 16 release.
NBC’s Will & Grace revival trailer also is showing strong, with 26.2 million views since its release on May 14.
The new broadcast series trailer record-holder for most views still seems to be Season 1 of NBC’s This Is Us, which crossed the 50 million mark in its first 11 days following its May 15, 2016 release.
