THIS IS HER RESPONSE TO A REPUBLICAN (SPOOK) WHO CAME HERE AND SAID UNIONS WERE GREEDY AND UNNECESSARY:

I am just reading this today – April 1, 2011! Are you frickin’ nuts??!!! Yes, the unions set their wage rates; do you have any idea why, your moron??!! My husband went to school for FIVE years to become an electrician – about the same school time as a doctor. Would you have a doctor treat you that did not go to his/her school to learn their specialty? I did not think so! I have seen the work done from people who wanted to save money by having a scab do their electrical work – a definite fire hazard was the bottom line. My husband had to rewire the entire area. This particular job was not sent overseas, but rather the individual hired someone from overseas working in the U.S. as an all-around handy man – plumbing, electrical, construction.

Just as you would not go to a gastro doctor to perform neurosurgery on your spine, you should never, ever have an all-around handy man perform these specialties!! If something goes wrong under a union electrician’s watch, OSHA comes out and investigates, and people have recourse if the job was performed unsafely, much like a malpractice situation. In addition, my husband’s union has protected him throughout his 15 months of disability, maintaining his complete healthcare coverage for our entire family (no COBRA), as well as paying him disability payments. The health insurance coverage for our entire family is indefinite because he went to school for FIVE years, he pays his dues, and the union takes very seriously his disability.

I think your time would be better spent by worrying about greedy and corrupt financial corporations hiding their money overseas, and not paying any taxes in this country!! For this reason, the government is now attacking the middle class because all the monies have been lost through non-collective taxes by large corporations. It is now put on the backs of the middle class and we (formerly the middle class) are paying the price!

I can see you have studied and learned very well your Rush Limbaugh newsletter, as well as your T.V. being stuck on the the FOX news channel! In our case, we get our information from numerous sources that just do not rely on right-wing wing propaganda outlets. It is people such as yourself who are not well-versed on what is going on in this country and thus continue to vote against your own interests! This, Mr. SFrancis is why the unions were created, why they WORK, and why the entire process of overriding collective bargaining is against the law! Peace

ANOTHER READER LIKES THE ABOVE COMMENT:
SO well written. I actually watched Kasich sign Senate Bill 5 into law and the feelings that came over me were astounding and it felt as if all of my blood had been drained from my body. Each time he grabbed a different pen my stomach dropped and dropped until it could not drop any more. His words after signing the bill were, “It’s now law. Senate Bill 5 is now law.” We are working on collecting enough signatures in order to be granted a referendum in November and to let the people vote on this matter. First we have to be patient and let some organizing take place but PLEASE, PLEASE if you live in Ohio, go to: www.protectohiofamilies.com and help us fight back with a citizen veto! I have signed many petitions but I have never been a petition circulator until yesterday. This was GOP-produced legislation that removes health care and benefits from collective bargaining, makes it illegal to strike, states that layoffs no longer can be based solely on seniority and replaces automatic pay increases with a merit-based pay system for Ohio’s 360,000 public workers.

ANOTHER READER ON A DIFFERENT SUBJECT COMMENTS ON MY INTERVIEW WITH MICHAEL MOORE, AND THOSE WHO OPPOSE THE ACTIONS OF OBAMA IN LIBYA:
Those who are so outraged about the US helping the Libyan rebels are going to look pretty stupid, very soon. Did you see where Sweden has jets in the air and shooting, now? When SWEDEN says somebody needs their ass kicked out of town…..what kind of airhead wants to sit idly and just criticize?

It’s never been like we were yanking boys away from their families and sending them to kill and die in the Libyan desert – we have these jets on carriers sitting in the Persian Gulf and it costs money just to maintain them as they sit there, parked.

We desperately needed to do SOMETHING right in the eyes of the Arab world that we’ve demonized. They’re LITERALLY dying to see something resembling Western style freedom come to their part of the world, and for us to have said, “Sorry, we’re too busy fucking up other Arab countries and demonizing our own President to know a just cause when we see one. We can’t fly over with a few of our jets (that are already there) and try to slow down a torturing prick who’s slaughtering his own people in their neighborhoods.”

I really wish people knew how to discriminate and/or learn an ounce of real geo-politics before they start bellyaching about a “war” that’s killed no Americans, vastly improved our image with people we’ve fucked over, and cost Americans about $4 apiece (when we could be spending that at Starbucks while reading our horoscopes!).
